ARTISTDimitris Miliotis
He is an active member of the Greek Printmakers Association and of the Chamber of Fine Arts of Greece. He lives and works in Corfu.
Born in Corfu, he originally followed the teaching of the painter Nikos Zervos and continued in Athens with Theodoros Pantos. After graduating the University of Athens with an Academic Degree in Mathematics, he studied Printmaking in the Athens School of Fine Arts under the professors G. Milios, V. Kazakos and M. Arfaras.
Dimitris Miliotis is a Greek and an islader. As a human being, he carries the sun and the sea inside him.
It is therefore only logical that as an artist he portrays his figures at the exact moment when they raise their arms to embrace the eternal worship symbols, such as the Sun God or Pisces, the fish.
This freshness is conveyed by his colors that possess the aesthetics of murals more than those of printed images.
The images of Dimitris Miliotis are printed on paper trough.
To be exact, they are pigmented engravings printed from mainly metallic moulds.
These embossed moulds are in the majority figures that have been created by oxidization and have then been cut out by scissor or saw.
One piece of art is the result of numerous pigmentation printings from equal mould printings.
Each mould is colored and then placed on the printing press by the artist himself. After all the moulds are placed and the synthesis has been completed, the printing of art piece commences.
It is obvious that, even though we are talking for printed art, each creation is innovative and every piece of art unique.
